#RENEWYOU

At the start of each year, we see a huge push to make resolutions and restart with the goal to change our “bad” habits in the new year. As much as I love self-improvement and growth practices, sometimes these lofty New Year’s resolutions have a negative implication that something is wrong and therefore needs fixing. So this year, I propose a new idea - instead of attempting to uproot or change who we are, let's instead approach 2022 with a more positive vibe in which we celebrate who we are by focusing on renewing ourselves, rather than changing.

So what does it mean to renew? According to Merriam-Webster, renew means “to make like new restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection.” I love the idea of “restoring” rather than completely changing. With an emphasis on restoration and renewal, we honor and celebrate all that we love about ourselves and approach the year through a more positive headspace by putting our energy towards enhancing our best selves. So what can you do to refresh and renew to be your best self this year?

Here are some suggestions for practices that I will personally be implementing to “renew” myself for 2022:

  1. Daily meditation - Even if it’s just for a few minutes each day, I plan to meditate daily in order to connect to my most authentic, true self.

  2. Daily movement - Whether this means a nice walk, yoga, a HIIT workout, or whatever I might be feeling that day, I make a healthy promise to practice some form of daily movement.

  3. Prioritizing quality sleep - I aim to keep a more routine sleep schedule and actually take time to wind down before bed in order to ensure proper sleep and mind restoration.

Wishing you a year filled with all things beautiful, restored energy, and a renewed perfectly imperfect you!
